Dike Rehabilitation – Miami, FL



This project consisted of the replacement of existing dike culverts 5 and 5A on Lake Okeechobee. Culverts were replaced with a triple 10 x 10 cast in place concrete box with a liner pipe. Construction activities included: construction of a surcharge mound, demolition and removal of existing structures, installation of temporary earth and sheet pile cofferdams, by-pass pumping, construction of a new cast-in-place reinforced concrete structure. An internal drainage system and cutoff wall was be constructed within the embankment

  • Maintained MSDS to ensure no hazardous items were brought onto jobsite
  • Enforced USACE EM 385-1-1 and held the project to OSHA standards

  • Attended pre-construction conference, pre-work meetings including preparatory inspection meeting, and periodic in-progress meetings

  • Spoke to local businesses and discussed safety issues with their patrons with our current operations
